SBM Volunteer Process
Council and Committee Members
Any SBM member in good standing is eligible to apply for appointment to a council or committee. Past volunteer service is recommended for council applicants. Most terms are 3 years.
Board Members
With the exception of student and associate members, all SBM members in good standing may apply to serve on the Board of Directors. Past volunteer leadership experience is required. All terms are 3 years.
Short-Term Volunteer Roles
SBM offers a variety of short-term volunteer opportunities for those who are unable to commit to a 3-year term. SBM members are welcome to apply for these roles year-round.
Important Dates
- Late October / Early November: SBM's annual call for Board nominations
- Late November / Early December: Deadline for Board nominations
- Early February: SBM's annual call for council and committee volunteers
- March: Deadline for council and committee volunteer applications
- May 1: Volunteer appointments begin
