Stride for Science 5k
The Stride for Science Run/Walk is SBM’s annual 5k that takes places on the Thursday evening during the Annual Meeting. Typically held in a local park or stadium, the Stride for Science Run/Walk is accessible for all and encourages both runners and walkers to sign up.
Since 2022, SBM has raised over $50,000 for science communication through the Stride for Science Run/Walk to increase the public’s access to our members’ research. When you participate in the Stride for Science, you are not only supporting the enhanced communication of scientific ideas but also contributing to the broader positive changes in how science is understood, perceived, and utilized in society. Your small steps lead to significant advancements and improvements in science communication, clinical, and population health.
2025 Stride for Science Logo Competition
Calling all content creators and/or artistic behavioral medicine scientists! Did you know that the very first SBM Annual Meeting was held at the Hilton in San Francisco on December 13, 1979? The Stride for Science logo competition is back and this year, and we are asking you to submit your logo artwork for San Francisco with a twist.
We want you to take the first Annual Meeting logo and modernize the cable car while still maintaining the original logo design.
Logo Design Guidelines and Requirements
- You must be a current SBM member with dues paid through December 31, 2024
- Your design must be original artwork
- The original Annual Meeting cable car graphic must be incorporated and recognizable in your design. All other components of the design should be tied to the city of San Francisco or San Francisco culture, with the option to include a science communication element.
- The logo must incorporate the following text:
- SBM Stride for Science Run/Walk or SBM Stride for Science 5k
- San Francisco
- March 27, 2025 or March 2025
A maximum of 5 colors should be used in your logo design, incorporating any variation of the following SBM brand colors
Winning Logo Designer will Receive:
- Complimentary 2025 Annual Meeting and Stride for Science Run/Walk registration
- Opportunity to blow the whistle to signal the start of the run/walk
- Name recognition on all communications and signage that include the winning logo

Enables SBM create more opportunities to translate member expertise in to real-world impact

Helps members disseminate their research results beyond the traditional behavioral medicine community and stop the spread of health misinformation through resources such as our Sci Comm Toolkit and Healthy Living Articles.

Provides funding for the SBM Leading the Narrative Awards

Ensures that behavioral medicine professionals are recognized by the medical community, and medical/research organizations are seen as the knowledge brokers of trusted behavior change science.
