Be a member, build the mission

Joining SBM means being part of a multi-disciplinary group where your experience and expertise play a vital part. Other bodies focused on health and behavior exist, but only SBM is on the leading edge where perspectives from across the health spectrum converge.

Our members are researchers, clinicians, educators, industry professionals, and policymakers from more than 20 disciplines, including psychology, nursing, medicine, public health, nutrition, epidemiology, exercise science, and biostatistics. They work to improve health at individual, clinical, and population levels.

SBM fights for research funding, helps members find jobs, and draws decision-makers’ attention to behavioral medicine evidence. We also strive to advance members’ careers and the field of behavioral medicine through special interest groups, webinars, training programs, mentoring, award recognition and funding, and an annual meeting (the largest yearly behavioral medicine gathering in the world!). Members have myriad opportunities to learn, share, network, publish, present, develop academic/industry partnerships, and much more.

SBM membership follows the calendar year from January 1st to December 31st, 2025. SBM will be accepting 2026 new applicants and renewals online starting on September 30, 2025. Dues can also be processed by emailing info@sbm.org. We look forward to having you join us in 2025-26!!!

I have met many incredibly kind and considerate researchers across diverse career stages and fields of research. I think SBM has much opportunity for meaningful connections. The SIGs are wonderfully engaging, and I feel that I have many groups from which to continue learning and growing throughout my years attending this conference. I can envision a growing network of supportive peers and mentors here. I hope to also enhance my personal and professional growth in intentionally disseminating my research to other researchers and to communities.
