The mission of the HPRC is to reduce the burden of disease by addressing a broad range of modifiable health risk factors, including tobacco use, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, and risky alcohol and other substance use through research, novel intervention development, and dissemination of research findings. The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology is housed within the COPH, Oklahoma’s only accredited School of Public Health. Faculty perform research in the analysis of longitudinal and other correlated data, survival analysis methods, clinical trials methodologies, Bayesian statistics, survey sampling methods, statistical genetics, high-dimensional data analysis, health disparities, tobacco control, communicable diseases, trauma-related health outcomes, reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, and cardiometabolic outcomes in diverse populations.
