Stride for Clarity, Stride for Change!
Held alongside SBM's Annual Meeting, the Stride for Science Run/Walk is our annual 5K event, taking place on Thursday evening during the conference. By joining the Stride for Science, you’re not only taking part in a fun and energizing experience—you’re also helping to shape the future of behavioral medicine through the Bridging the Gap Research Award. Every step you take provides essential support, mentorship, and resources to help postdoctoral researchers succeed. Come out, get moving, and make a difference!
Creating Impact, One Stride at a Time
Every dollar raised through the Stride for Science Run/Walks helps support the next generation of researchers via the Bridging the Gap Research Award. Since 2022, SBM has proudly awarded $96,000 to 12 talented postdoctoral students, helping them develop strong research grant proposals. This award can truly make a difference in helping young behavioral medicine researchers overcome major hurdles in securing funding. 2026 Stride for Science Run/Walk
The 2026 Run/Walk is a timed 5K along Lake Michigan, starting and ending in Grant Park, just a short 10-minute walk from the Hilton Chicago. Runners and walkers will experience a scenic route with a Lake Michigan sunrise on one side and landmarks like the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field on the other. Both runners and walkers are encouraged to sign up! A shorter route option will be marked at the Adler Planetarium for a one-mile loop.
Registration
- Registration is now open on our Stride for Science Race Roster website, SBM’s official run/walk registration partner.
- You may also sign up for the Run/Walk when registering for SBM’s 2026 Annual Meeting.
- A minimum $40 registration donation guarantees a run/walk shirt, sunglasses, and race bib.
- Guest and team registration is available on the Stride for Science Race/Roster website.
- On-site registration will be available only on Wednesday, April 22.
- All registrants will need to pick up their race packet on Wednesday, April 22 before 6 p.m. at the SBM Annual Meeting Registration Desk.
