Engaging students and trainees in research is essential to advancing the field and developing the next generation of behavioral health scientists. Despite the critical role that research mentorship plays, skills for effective training and mentoring are rarely formally taught. Additionally, best practices can vary widely depending on institutional setting and student/trainee stage.

  1. Attendees will be able to identify sustainable, effective strategies for research mentoring that support both individual trainee development and overall team success. 

  1. Attendees will be able to recognize common challenges mentors face when training students in diverse institutional environments, and identify practical solutions for addressing them.
