Advancing Health Equity and Climate Justice through Behavioral Science and Translational Research

Date: March 5, 2025

Time: 12 pm ET

The climate change crisis is intensifying health disparities, disproportionately impacting vulnerable communities and amplifying environmental injustices. Urgent action is needed to address these interconnected challenges and drive meaningful change. This webinar offers a unique opportunity to learn how behavioral science and translational research can empower communities, foster collaboration, and promote solutions at the intersection of health equity and climate justice.

Through engaging presentations from three expert speakers, the session will explore:

•        Community-driven strategies to address energy inequality and advance climate justice.

•        Faith-based leadership and advocacy in promoting resilience and health equity.

•        Translational research and academic-community partnerships addressing environmental health disparities.

Learning objectives:

  1. Evaluate the role of community-based initiatives, such as the Toxic Bus Tours, in raising awareness about energy inequality and its impact on climate justice, and identify actionable strategies to address environmental health disparities through collaborative partnerships, community engagement, and behavioral science.

  1. Explore the role of faith-based leadership and community advocacy in addressing health disparities and promoting climate justice within underserved populations, and identify actionable strategies for fostering collaborations among faith leaders, researchers, and community stakeholders to advance health equity and climate resilience through translational research and behavioral science.

  1. By the end of the lecture, attend should be able to describe ways in which local Milwaukee community organizations and academic partners are working together to pursue environmental health equity as the climate changes.
