Translating and implementing community-based participatory research: How assessing needs of faith communities became a model for promoting health equity in diverse settings

The Mid-South Congregational Healthy Survey (MSCHS) is a community, health care, and academic partnership that used a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach to examine needs in faith communities in the greater Memphis, TN area. In this webinar, three panelists will share how they used the MSCHS as a model for health equity research in Appalachia, southern California, and Alaska. Panelists will demonstrate how the model was adapted, faith-based and non-faith-based partnerships built, and CBPR principles used to implement projects focused on diabetes prevention, mental health, and rural health. The moderator will synthesize insights to provide participants with strategies they can use to implement CBPR initiatives that continually impact behaviors and improve health outcomes.
