This webinar will be an introduction to applying the biopsychosocial ecological model to the management of traumatic brain injury (TBI). The reflexive associations across the survivor of TBI (e.g., experiential, sociodemographic), the injury characteristics (e.g., biomechanics, cellular, network), and the injury context (e.g., psychosocial support, medicolegal issues, public policy) will be explored in relation to one another. California’s medical incidence and community prevalence estimates will be compared and contrasted to National rates to begin the conversation toward a socially responsible system; current state-policy efforts to assist in community reintegration will be discussed. A time-dimension will be proposed to introduce historical and current psychosocial factors in service to prepare, manage, and rehabilitate from TBI.
