Honors, Awards, and Inclusions:

Katherine L. Applegate, PhD, accepted a position on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Pain Psychology (AAPP) and hopes to build partnership with the Pain SIG at SBM. AAPP is a national, multidisciplinary community of pain providers serving youth and adults living with chronic pain by providing a place to educate, network, advocate, and share information regarding the practice and study of pain management. https://aapainpsychology.org/about-us/

Belinda Borrelli, PhD, a Professor at Boston University, Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine & the Director of the Center for Behavioral Science Research, received the International Association for Dental and Craniofacial Research Giddon Award for Distinguished Research in Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Borrelli additionally came in 3rd place for the Best Digital Health Abstract and 2nd place for the Digital Health Publication of the year - awarded by SBM's Digital Health SIG. 

Alicia A. Dahl, PhD, MS, an Associate Professor at the College of Health and Human Services, is the 2026 recipient of UNC Charlotte’s Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professorship in Teaching. Johanne Eliacin, PhD, FSBM, was promoted to Associate Research Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of General Internal Medicine, and Geriatrics.

Angela Fidler Pfammatter, PhD, FAHA, FSBM, was awarded tenure and promoted to Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Dr. Pfammatter also received the Provost's Professional Promise in Research & Creative Achievement Award and the Honors Program's Faculty Mentor Award this spring. 

Rachel Millstein, PhD, MHS, was honored to attend the MassDOT Safe Routes to School Awards Ceremony at the Massachusetts State House. The walk/bike to school program Dr. Millstein runs for a local elementary school received the silver level distinction for activities to engage the school community's active transportation.

Michelle Segar, PhD, MPH, MS, FSBM; Jen Taber, PhD; John Updegraff, PhD, had new research about exercise-related all-or-nothing thinking featured in an article in The New York Times. (This Mental Trick May Help You Get More Exercise It’s not about discipline.)
