There is a leader in all of us where we have been engaged in paving the way for change at some level. In this issue, many of our members, including the President, provide primers on how we can lead during difficult and unprecedented times. Some of us provide academic mentorship to our students and colleagues, while others lead through advocacy such as ensuring access to gender-affirming care; improving the health of women, children, and families; and reducing the threat of climate change and its health impacts. Our intellectual curiosity and passion drive us to seek these enriching opportunities. I am constantly reminded of how we are surrounded by great leaders at SBM who work collaboratively towards improving health behaviours at the local, national, and international levels.

On another note, the Annual Meeting is a month away. SBM received 1,508 abstracts this year, which means we can expect a stimulating scientific program. Be sure to check out the articles on “What to Expect at the Upcoming 2023 Annual Meeting” and “Climate Change & Health in Phoenix” for the exciting lineup. I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you in Phoenix! See you soon!
