Seattle Children's Research Institute/University of Washington: Associate Professor or Professor (faculty-scientist track): Social media and children's mental health
The Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development (CHBD) at Seattle Children's Research Institute, together with the University of Washington Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics, is recruiting a full-time Associate Professor or Professor (faculty-scientist track, without tenure by reason of funding) with an established, funded research program in social media and children's mental health.
We're looking for expertise in areas such as child and family social media behaviors, brain development, mental health outcomes, policy and regulation, device use in educational settings, or digital interventions. The successful candidate will sustain a funded research program at SCRI and contribute to the department's teaching and mentoring mission.
SCRI is ranked 4th nationally in NIH pediatric research funding, with more than $200 million in extramural awards in 2025 (about $40 million to CHBD). The role includes a University of Washington faculty appointment and membership in CHBD's collaborative research community, spanning such areas as pain management, sleep health, environmental health, suicide prevention, and mental and behavioral health.
**Qualifications:** Doctorate (MD, PhD, or equivalent) with documented expertise in social media and youth mental health; current rank of, or readiness to transition to, Associate Professor or Professor; history of external research funding and evidence of mature, consistent scholarship.
**Salary range:** $165,000–$260,004 annually (Associate Professor); $200,004–$300,000 annually (Professor), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
**Anticipated start date:** Spring or Summer 2027.
