MaineHealth Institute for Research: Faculty Scientist III (Full Professor)
Faculty - MaineHealth Institute for Research
Organization: MaineHealth
Location: Westbrook, ME
Facility: MaineHealth Institute for Research
Schedule: Full Time
The Center for Interdisciplinary Population & Health Research (CIPHR) is recruiting a Principal Investigator to bring their research program to the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) as a Faculty Scientist III (Full Professor). We are interested in a population health researcher whose focus is on social determinants/drivers of health, with preference for an investigator whose work aligns with cancer control or implementation science.
MHIR is situated within MaineHealth, the largest hospital system in Maine, and provides unique opportunities to conduct research that is of benefit to patient and community populations, particularly among rural populations. MaineHealth provides preventive care, diagnosis and treatment to 1.1 million residents in Maine and New Hampshire through providers of primary care and numerous specialty care service lines, including two regional campuses of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network.
MHIR provides research infrastructure, including an Office of Grants Administration, an Office of Research Compliance, a Clinical Trials Office, and four independent research centers ranging from basic science and translational research to population health outcomes research. MHIR has a strong and growing annual grant portfolio, which will eclipse $25 million in extramural funding in 2025. Investigators at MHIR are highly collaborative and dedicated to improving the health of our patients and communities.
The Center for Interdisciplinary Population and Health Research (CIPHR) is one of four research centers in MHIR. CIPHR designs, supports, and conducts innovative research and evaluations to improve population health. We focus on improving patient-centered outcomes, partnering with communities, addressing health disparities, educating, training & mentoring, implementing & evaluating evidence-informed interventions, and disseminating findings. Successful applicants will have an established record in mentoring trainees and early career investigators, and have a funded, transferrable research program that demonstrates current and future ability to secure NIH, PCORI, or other external funding. The Faculty Scientist II/III will have a unique opportunity to help build the scientific future and direction for MHIR and CIPHR, and we are seeking individuals who are eligible to apply for large center grants (e.g. NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence or P01) and have an entrepreneurial mindset around funding diversification for MHIR. This position is based at our Westbrook, ME research offices.
