Low- And Middle-Income Country Discount
SBM offers all the benefits of membership at reduced rates to individuals living in countries with low- and middle-income economies as classified by the World Bank. If you reside in a low- or middle-income country, you’ll receive a 75% discount on your membership dues. When you fill out our online membership form, the discount will be automatically applied before checkout.
Membership Types & Cost
Full Membership
$365
Full membership confers the privilege of voting and holding office. Requirements include completion of a terminal degree in a relevant field. SBM fellows are considered full members.
Transitional Membership
1st Year $185; 2nd Year $260
Transitional membership offers the same member benefits as full membership but at a discounted rate to recent graduates who are in the first two years of their careers Associate Membership.
Student & Trainee
$89/$35 First-Time New Member Rate
Available to those who are enrolled in a full-time, accredited training program in a relevant field. Student/trainee members must provide educational or postdoctoral program information and dates on their member applications. No Voting privileges. First-time members are able to join at a $35 introductory rate!
Associate Membership
$365
Associate membership provides membership for those who agree with the purposes and objectives of the organization, but who do not meet the requirements for full membership. Associate members do not have voting or office-holding privileges.
Emeritus
$0
Emeritus members have reached the age of 70, are retired, and have had at least eight years of active membership.
Affiliate
Available to entities including nonprofit organizations, for-profit companies, educational institutions, government institutions, and research labs. Affiliate members receive the same benefits as full membership.
Dues Waiver for Job Loss
After at least one year of paid membership all member categories who become unemployed and are seeking full-time professional employment may be eligible to have their SBM dues waived. Please contact us at info@sbm.org
