Description/Mission Statement
The purposes of the Student Special Interest Group are to provide a home for student members of the Society of Behavioral Medicine where their unique needs and concerns can be discussed and addressed, and to facilitate their professional development. Additional goals of the Student Special Interest Group include promotion of the following: student-oriented programs, activities and opportunities within the Society of Behavioral Medicine; collaboration between students and among students and professionals; and discussion of important topics within the field of behavioral medicine. All student members are encouraged to join.
Opportunities to Engage with the Student SIG
1. To join the Student SIG roster or to be added or removed from the listserv:
Log in to the Members Only section of the SBM website, click My Profile, then edit the SIG section under the Professional tab. If you have questions or difficulty, email info@sbm.org.
2. Send and receive messages from the Student SIG listserv:
To send relevant postings for students (e.g. publications, job opportunities, etc), simply insert this address into your email recipient list: student_sig@list.sbm.org. If you are a member of the Student SIG you will be automatically enrolled in the listserv.
3. Networking Spreadsheet:
A Google Spreadsheet was created as a way to help students connect about their research interests and to network for future collaborations. Visit the spreadsheet to enter your information and see the research interests/contact information of other student members.
4. Social Media:
The Social Media Coordinators of Student SIG work on promoting research, networking, and educational opportunities and tips for self-care and mindfulness for our SIG members.

6. Webinars:
The Mentorship and Training Coordinator of Student SIG offers 1-2 webinars a year. This job includes meeting with the committee to plan the webinars, searching for volunteer experts to lead the webinars, and seeking collaboration with other SIGs to host the webinars.

7. Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting Coordinator works with Student SIG board members to organize a symposium and/or networking session at the Annual Meeting. The Annual meeting coordinator also organizes SIG social events for SIG members who attended the Annual Meeting. The details of the upcoming annual meeting sessions and events will be shared via email, newsletter, and social media. Keep tuned for more information!
