University of Tennessee Health Science Center – Assistant Professor, Department of Preventive Medicine

The Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level in behavioral weight management, eating behaviors or a similar area. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop a research program in behavioral weight management and/or eating behaviors in a developing and expanding interdisciplinary research department. We are looking for someone whose career goals include innovative research and grantsmanship in the areas of behavioral weight management or eating behaviors.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is a major medical and research center located in Memphis, Tennessee. The Department of Preventive Medicine is a large, interdisciplinary department with faculty in a wide range of disciplines and funded research addressing, among other things, nutrition, obesity, eHealth, women’s health, health economics, health services research, genetics, cardiovascular disease, exercise science, and tobacco control. 

Requirements for this position include a doctorate in behavioral or social science field (e.g., psychology, nutrition, public health, exercise science). Primary criteria for appointment will be demonstrated ability in behavioral weight management or eating behavior research, writing and quantitative skills, as well as a relevant publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

While this position will receive state support, the successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a substantial portion of salary in funded research programs.
