We are seeking an experienced faculty member to spearhead the expansion of the Department of Population Health’s capacity to conduct applied evaluations that identify innovations to improve health outcomes through medical care, public health, and social policy initiatives.
This position will serve as Associate Director of the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL). In its first year, HEAL has focused on building and using a very large database that captures information from every medical care claim paid by the New York State Medicaid program. This position will help faculty both at NYU and around New York State use these and related data effectively; play a leadership role in defining research initiatives that benefit from this data source; and interact with both funders and collaborating faculty who wish to work on research and evaluation projects. The faculty member will also play a key management role at HEAL. HEAL is just one project, however, that involves innovative evaluative research within the Department of Population Health. Faculty are engaged in studies of initiatives that focus on a wide array of social determinants of health to learn how to improve health through social policy. The faculty member will develop and carry out a program of independent research on public health and/or policy-related themes and assume fundraising and relationship-building responsibilities.
