Translational Behavioral Medicine: Practice, Policy, Research

The new SBM journal, Translational Behavioral Medicine: Practice, Policy, Research, is an international peer-reviewed journal that offers continuous, online-first publication. The first print issue will be published in March, 2011.

Mission
TBM's mission is to engage, inform, and catalyze dialogue among the research, practice, and policy communities about behavioral medicine. We aim to bring actionable science to practitioners and to prompt debate on policy issues that surround implementing the evidence.

Vision
TBM's vision is to lead the translation of behavioral science findings to improve patient and population outcomes.

Translational Behavioral Medicine: Practice, Policy, Research will feature original empirical studies on the effectiveness or implementation of interventions, which will explicitly state the impact of the findings for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. This new journal will also include case studies that highlight practice and policy questions in need of research and that describe innovative ways in which evidence-based practices have been implemented in under-resourced settings. TBM will also contain pieces that synopsize new reviews, practice guidelines, and practice tools released elsewhere. Additionally, TBM will invite original systematic reviews of the effectiveness of interventions and policies. Above all else, we seek a journal comprising of articles with the potential to change how behavioral medicine is practiced, researched, and translated into policy. The forthcoming Web site will be updated regularly with the newest empirical research, commentaries, news, and practical tools.

Editor-in-Chief: Bonnie Spring, PhD, ABPP
