The Alliance for Health Reform and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation presented a panel at a briefing which discussed policy and budget considerations surrounding efforts being made by local communities to support healthier lifestyles and help people make long-lasting and sustainable changes to reduce their risk for chronic diseases. Questions addressed included: Can this focus on the new public health be sustained in light of budget constraints on the federal, state, and local levels? How does the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) relate to public health and prevention activities?
