Call for Papers - Team Approaches to Science, Practice, and Policy in Health

TBM Call for Papers for Special Section of December 2012
Team Approaches to Science, Practice, and Policy in Health

Submission Deadline: May 15, 2012

Solutions to complex problems concerning the translation of behavioral medicine often require teams of specialists from diverse backgrounds working across disciplinary silos. Mounting evidence from organizational, management, and team research has supported the premise that, when done well, a cross-disciplinary team can produce more creative, more impactful results, as compared to a team whose members represent a single discipline. The purpose of this call for papers is to solicit high quality contributions describing the use and/or facilitation of team-oriented approaches to practice, policy, and research in the context of behavioral medicine translation. Selected manuscripts will be published, along with invited commentaries, in the eighth issue of Translational Behavioral Medicine. Manuscripts may address a range of topics regarding team-oriented practice, policy, and research focused on behavioral medicine. Examples include: the formation and management of teams to translate evidence-based interventions for real world practice; the role of policy in supporting or hindering cross-disciplinary teams; and descriptions/evaluations of training resources designed to support team-oriented translation in behavioral medicine. Qualitative and quantitative approaches are welcome. The editors are particularly interested in publishing papers that reflect multi-, inter-, or transdisciplinary perspectives and will give preference to manuscripts submitted by a team of authors representing different disciplines. In addition to original research papers, a number of article types will be considered, including: Practice Tools (2,000 words), Practice and Public Health Policy (2500 words), Systematic Reviews (8000 words), Case Studies (3500 words), and Synopses and Guidelines (2000 words).
