SOCIAL SCIENCE ANALYST CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

FDA/CDER/OFFICE OF NEW DRUGS

The Office of New Drugs/Division of Nonprescription Clinical Evaluation, located at our new consolidated FDA campus in Silver Spring, Maryland, is recruiting for a SOCIAL SCIENCE ANALYST to serve as analyst of consumer behavior and label comprehension studies. Consumer studies evaluate the ability of consumers to understand labels and properly use nonprescription medications. The Social Science Analyst provides scientific and regulatory guidance to sponsors of nonprescription drugs through all phases of drug development programs and evaluates the results of consumer studies. This position offers the opportunity for the incumbent to advance the knowledge and approach to using consumer data to assure the safe and effective use of nonprescription drug products. The social science analyst will work in the dynamic, highly challenging and innovative atmosphere of nonprescription drug development and research.

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic requirements for this position are a degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position, or combination of education and experience that provide applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, or four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Candidates for Civil Service or U.S. Commissioned Corps must be U.S. citizens. Permanent U.S. residents may apply for staff fellowship appointments.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE: A doctorate in social science or a related discipline appropriate to the position. In addition to social science expertise, education and training that has provided a familiarity with the field of medicine, such as a background in nursing, pharmaceutical sciences, etc...
