FACULTY POSITIONS IN PARADISE

Full Professor and Assistant/Associate Professors
Cancer Research Center of Hawaii's Prevention & Control Program
University of Hawaii

The Cancer Research Center of Hawaii (CRCH), an NCI-designated cancer center, is embarking on a major expansion of its Prevention and Control research program. With dedicated funding from the State of Hawai'i through a tax on cigarette sales, the Center is constructing a state-of-the art 320,000 sq.ft. research and clinical care facility on the Honolulu waterfront. Thus, we are recruiting multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Full, Associate, and Assistant Professor levels.

CRCH has extensive resources to support a wide range of population research investigations including a statewide SEER cancer registry, a Cancer Information Service outreach program, genomics and biochemical assay laboratories, nutritional assessment, biostatistics support, epidemiological cohort studies, and a Minority-Based Community Clinical Oncology Program. For more information about CRCH please see our website at www.crch.org

FULL PROFESSOR POSITION TENURABLE
Applications are being accepted for a faculty position (tenurable) at the Professor level in any area of cancer prevention and control with a research interest in the reduction of health disparities in ethnic minorities and underserved populations. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in tobacco control, energy balance, nutrition, cancer screening, health communication, cancer survivorship, health policy, and innovative mass-media /electronic technologies for risk reduction. Hawaii's diverse multiethnic/multicultural population, with disparate cancer incidence and mortality rates, offers unique research opportunities.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop his/her own extramurally supported program of behavioral research related to cancer prevention, detection and control, which includes establishing new intra- and inter-programmatic research projects with faculty from CRCH programs and colleagues from other University schools/departments (e.g., School of Medicine). Program leadership will be considered for applicants with appropriate credentials.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD, Dr.PH, MD or other doctoral degree. Strong preference will be given to applicants with federally funded research grants. We offer a highly interactive and multidisciplinary research environment, excellent startup packages and competitive salaries. Full Professor applicants should have a record of scholarly accomplishments in a relevant field (e.g., behavioral medicine, health psychology, public health, health education, health communication, epidemiology, preventive medicine), a track record in extramural research funding, and a strong record of scholarly publications and scientific achievements. Experience working with diverse multiethnic groups, especially Asian, Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander populations is desirable.
