Student Volunteers

The Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) is no longer accepting applications for the 2016 Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions student volunteer program.

SBM is seeking student SBM members interested in volunteering at the 37th Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions, taking place March 30 to April 2, 2016, at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC. Please note that completing and submitting your application does not confirm or imply acceptance, as the number of positions is limited.

All volunteers will be asked to meet the requirements listed below in return for reimbursed base registration (Early Bird Rate $165 - paid by February 29, 2016) to the conference. Common responsibilities include working the registration desk, conducting headcounts, and taking tickets from pre-conference session attendees.

Requirements

  1. Be a paid 2016 SBM student member. Join SBM or renew your membership for 2016 while registering for the annual meeting or by going to our membership page.
  2. Fill out the Student Volunteer Application. Return the form to Erica Linc via email at elinc@sbm.org, or via fax at (414) 276-3349.
  3. Register for the 2016 Annual Meeting by February 29, 2016, to get the Early-Bird Rate of $165. This fee will be reimbursed in its entirety upon successful completion of your volunteer assignment.
  4. Review the volunteer training materials, which will be sent via email once your participation is confirmed.
  5. Complete 4-6 hours of volunteering at the meeting.

Important Notes

  • Your base registration fee of $165 - minus any course or seminar fees - will be refunded within 3 weeks following the meeting, pending the confirmation of successful completion of all volunteering duties.
  • If you paid via credit card, the refunded amount will be reimbursed to the card used to pay for your registration.
  • If you paid by check, the refunded amount will be sent via check to the address and individual listed on the check used at the time of payment.
  • All volunteer positions are filled on a first-come first-served basis. We will try to accommodate your preferred times and days, but cannot guarantee that they will be available.
  • Upon acceptance, the national office will confirm your volunteering time slot. If your preferred time slot is no longer available, you will be given the chance to request an open time slot, or to be moved to the back-up list.
  • Volunteers are asked to sign in at the registration desk before their start time, and sign out upon completion of volunteer time.
  • Volunteers who depart their assigned station early, or do not sign out, will NOT receive reimbursement for their registration fee.
  • All volunteers must wear their Volunteer ribbon so it is clearly visible. This enables staff and meeting attendees to easily identify you.
  • Additional information will be provided upon acceptance.
