Call for Student Volunteers
The student volunteer positions for the 2012 Annual Meeting have been filled. If you previously applied for a position, all notifications will be received by February 17th, 2012.
The Society of Behavioral Medicine is seeking students interested in volunteering at 33rd Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions, taking place April 11-14, 2012 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in New Orleans, LA. Please note that completing and submitting your application does not confirm or imply acceptance, as we have very limited availability of positions.
All volunteers will be asked to meet the requirements listed below in return for reimbursed base registration (Early Bird Rate $140 - $25 t-shirt expense = $115; Regular Rate $190 - $25 t-shirt expense = $165) to the conference.
Requirements
- Fill out the Student Volunteer Form on the SBM website www.sbm.org
- Pay the student registration fee. NOTE: This fee will be reimbursed in its entirety (minus the $25 fee for the t-shirt) upon successful completion of your volunteer assignment.
- Read and sign the Volunteer Training Materials, which will be sent via email once your participation is confirmed.
- Participate in 4-6 hours of volunteering at the meeting.
Important Notes
- Your refunded registration fee - minus any workshop or banquet fees - will be sent within 3 weeks following the meeting, pending the confirmation of successful completion of all volunteering duties.
- You will receive an automatic confirmation when submitting your application on the SBM website. If you do not receive this confirmation, please contact Benjamin Stumpf, at bstumpf@sbm.org.
- If you paid via credit card, the refunded amount will be reimbursed to the card used to pay for your registration. Please Note that the national office requires your credit card number to process this reimbursement, and will contact you the week following the meeting to secure the information.
- If you paid by check, the refunded amount will be send via check to the address and individual listed on the check used at the time of payment.
- All volunteer positions are filled on a first-come first-served basis. We will try to accommodate your preferred times and days, but cannot guarantee that they will be available.
- Upon acceptance, the national office will confirm your volunteering time slot. If you're preferred time slot is no longer available, you will be given the chance to request an open time slot, or to be moved to the back-up list.
- Volunteers are asked to sign in at the registration desk before their start time, and sign out upon completion of volunteer time.
- Volunteers who depart their assigned station early, or do not sign out, will NOT receive reimbursement for their registration fee.
- All volunteers must wear their Volunteer ribbon so it is clearly visible and Annual Meeting t-shirt during their volunteering times. This enables staff and meeting attendees to easily identify you.
- Additional details will be provided upon acceptance.
